Bini,

I can't say why you are having problems with that specific wheel but I know it works well with most other ones. You may need to find someone else that has that same wheel and see what settings they are using.

You didn't say what exactly is wrong with the Feedback other than "it runs bad" so it is almost impossible for anyone to tell you how to fix it.

You have to be a bit more specific with what your problem is.

Actually I was after the date shown at the top of the file itself in the first few lines, not the time and date stamp on the file.

It may not have one, as this hdv may date back to the original v1 release of 2007.

Agreed, BUT it is more setup-intensive then RealFeel. You need to get certain values from each car you are driving for it to feel right.

For the '55 Merc for example you have to get the Steering Lock and Caster from the default setup in game (25.0 and 3.0 respectively).

"Front wheel distance to centerline" and "Front wheel distance to centerline" come from the .pm file (0.665 and 1.246).

Lastly the Slip angle and Camber ratio percentage can be taken from the .hdv file. I use Kangloosh Car Factory to see the values. (13.00 and 5.0)

(Opinions vary as to whether the Caster and Camber settings actually do anything. I figure it can't hurt to put them in but many people don't bother.)

The rest is "flavor to taste" so to speak in terms of strength of effects. With older cars like this I like it very strong. It is alot of work to have a profile for each car, but no FFB algorithm will feel good for all cars without tuning. Leo's is the only one that lets you tune the effects depending on the specs of the car and it makes a huge difference.

If am not mistaken, there's a new utility that makes having the values for leo ffb organize and is just a click and load type of thing,I don't remember where I saw it but Iam pretty sure is out there ,it comes with a data base and let you get the info needed from the mods that aren't in the database.

here is called leo's ffb tuner

Seeing as this got bumped recently, I won`t feel too guilty adding to it 8-)

Firstly, thanks to all involved in this. I`ve had a couple of years running this thing around and it just does not get old. This mod is without a doubt, for me at least, the one thing that will keep my rFactor installed at all times.

I`m really only into vintage and classic mods in rF, GTR2, etc, with very, very few exceptions, but in rFactor I`ve never found such an organic, natural, challenging car anywhere.

This mod is unique as it really needs both finesse and force in equal measures to get the car around the track. Thin tyres plus extreme torque throughout the revs makes throttle control and considered brake useage absolutely essential for setting up the car for the next corner.

If it`s any use to anyone, for 50s-60s mods, I`m running a G25 set to the generally accepted sim settings in the hardware profiler, at 360 degrees lock. Regular ISI ffb, with realfeel set to standard except for the MaxForceAtSteeringRack=-1100.000000. Everything feels very responsive and natural, but the realfeel settings add a lot more compression and heaviness to the steering around places like the Ring, where there are many flat out dips and corners. Without realfeel, there is a very noticeable lightness when turning the wheel at those points.

If the mod was to stop as it is, I`d still have the W196 to play with, but with the new cars in development, it`s looking to be a fine time for sim'ming.

Thanks man, It is always nice to know that guys enjoy our work.

I think you will like the new physics even more than the original MB W196, Bristow and Mark Stone did the physics for it and have learned so much more since the MB was relased. Although Mark is no longer with us, Bristow has done a fantastic job giving each car a distinct feel and characteristic all its own.

If you like the original MB W196 I am confident you will love the finished mod.

Bob

The version we are working on now has a functional [PITMENU] section in the hdv. That should address your concerns about v1.0.
